This Sunday, June 21, is Father’s Day! Celebrating Father’s Day is a great way to honor your Dad and remind us about the importance and challenges of Fatherhood.
Rather than default to a tie, watch, or a new hammer – make this Father’s Day even more memorable and spend some quality time with the family!
Here’s 5 ways to celebrate your Dad, rain or shine!
Backyard Picnic with Dad
With the current state of the health pandemic, states with open restaurants are operating at a lower capacity. You might’ve missed out on your opportunity for a reservation, especially if you procrastinate like us! Stay home to stay safe & healthy! Why go out when you can enjoy nature, family, and your backyard all in one? This year, set up a picnic lunch for Dad and make it one to remember!
For the perfect picnic lunch, you will need:
A large blanket to fit the family
Dad’s favorite foods, drinks, and snacks
Pillows to make it comfy
Napkins
And an after-lunch game to play with the family – or if you’re lucky enough – a dip in the pool!
Family Bike Ride
If the person you are celebrating loves to be outside and physical activity – the family bike ride is perfect for Father’s Day!
Get the family together and geared up to have a fun ride around the neighborhood or local park.
Spending quality time with family is what Father’s Day is all about.
Outdoor BBQ with “Father Grill-Master”
Throwing an outdoor BBQ for Dad is a fun and easy way to get the family together for a night of fun. Does Dad genuinely enjoy grilling? Bring him the food and let him have his fun! Does Dad need a night off from manning the grill? Take over so he can relax (or hire a grill master from ShortStaf to grill to perfection).
Set the table and have the sides ready, and Dad is sure to have a special dinner to remember for years to come!
Movie Night
If the weather doesn’t allow for outdoor activities, you can relax inside with a movie night!
For the most enjoyable movie night, there will need to be blankets, pillows, Dad’s favorite snacks, and most importantly- Dad picks the movie.
Not that he doesn’t love watching Trolls for the hundredth time, but tonight- Dad gets to pick! [And we know Dad builds the best pillow forts!]
Family Game Night
Another indoor activity is Family Game Night! Have fun with the family and enjoy some friendly competition with board games, card games, or any game of your choosing.
Hide and seek and charades are also encouraged. No matter who wins in the end, the whole family is sure to enjoy playing games together!

Fun activities to celebrate MemorialDay, at home!??
Looking for Memorial Day activities that can be done at home? Here we have two fun and creative ways to express yourself for Memorial Day!
1- Patriotic Baking
This is a fun and easy way to get the kids involved. You can opt for cakes or cupcakes, or both (like we did)! This provides a creative outlet for everyone. We skipped the food dye in the frosting this year and went with sprinkles and fruit instead. Sticking with the red, white, and blue theme – we used strawberries, blueberries, and vanilla icing. Decorate however you want! Smiley faces and flags are both encouraged.
2-Red White and Blue Tie Dye
Tie dye never goes out of style. In honor of this holiday, we are using red and blue dye to create a patriotic masterpiece. Watch the video below for the coloring technique we used. Now, you have a patriotic shirt for Memorial Day, Fourth of July, and every day.
Check out this Tie-Dye DIY to make a beautiful Red, White, and Blue creation of your own!
Happy Memorial Day from ShortStaf!
This year, join us in remembering those who gave the ultimate sacrifice fighting for our freedoms. ??

Amid the COVID-19 crisis, life has drastically changed. Remember FOMO*? Well, there is no more FOMO*. We are all missing out together. Milestones that used to be celebrated with a big party or get togethers have been put on hold. I say put on hold because, well, we shouldn’t have to miss out altogether.
Weddings, bridal showers, bachelorette parties, are all being postponed. Birthdays have come and gone – not being able to leave the house and celebrate with family and friends. Graduations have been cancelled.
But, that doesn’t mean we miss out on a brighter future where celebrations and parties are the norm again!
Let’s use graduations as an example-?
You FINALLY finished that final semester. You have been working tirelessly for years to get that diploma. Why not celebrate one of the life’s most important milestones? Just postpone that party, don’t forgo it!
I can’t predict the future. I can’t tell you when life will resume as normal. But, no matter when it happens, you should still celebrate your achievements. Throw yourself a graduation party (even if it is months after the fact). Celebrate yourself! You DID IT!
Birthdays are a little bit different. ?
They happen every year. If you missed out on your birthday because of quarantine, you should celebrate twice as hard! Celebrate another year of life with your friends and family. Cheers with them in person! Not that Zoom, Skype, and FaceTime aren’t lifesavers, but it will be extra special when we can finally embrace one another again.
Wedding season this year has been impacted greatly. ?
For all the beautiful couples who had to cancel, reschedule, or postpone, we feel for you. Whether you opted to still get married without guests, postponed indefinitely, or set a new date – you all have your own special story. If you wanted to have your friends and family there, you still can (just at a later date). If you got married anyway, CONGRATULATIONS! Cheers to you and your new chapter of life.
Everyone celebrates their love differently. If you want to celebrate with others, make it a priority to plan! In these times of uncontrolled uncertainty, create certainty around your impending celebrations! You don’t have to pick a date. You don’t have to start ordering decorations. Just know- in your heart- that you will make it happen.
Right now, what is better than having something to look forward to? Let’s keep our spirits high and our friends and family close (from afar). Celebrate life, achievements, love, and everything in-between. ?
Just because we are on pause ⏸, doesn’t mean we stop ⏹. We will see you soon.
Plan to make your next party everything you dreamed of. ShortStaf is here to make it one for the books. When the time comes to party and celebrate your milestones or accomplishments – make sure that you make it extra special by using ShortStaf to Staf your party. It’s your turn to enjoy – don’t get caught setting up, serving, or cleaning up after yourself and your guests. ShortStaf is here take the load off you so you can finally enjoy.
*[*FOMO = Fear Of Missing Out]

Red Sangria is one of our favorite warm-weather cocktails! It is the perfect balance of wine, liquor, and juice. Great to make in a pitcher for parties or enjoy solo! Here we have the recipe for a single serving of The PERFECT Red Sangria to enjoy for your next virtual happy hour!
Ingredients:
3oz Red Wine
0.5oz White Rum
0.75oz Peach Schnapps
0.75oz Brandy
3oz Orange Juice
Half lime slice
Half lemon slice
Half orange slice
Start by filling your glass with ice. Next pour 3oz Red Wine of your choice into the glass. Add 0.5oz White Rum, 0.75oz Peach Schnapps, and 0.75oz of Brandy. After you add the liquor, it is time to add the juice. We added 3oz of fresh squeezed orange juice (fresh squeezed is optional). Now, take the mixture and pour it into a tin. Top with your half slices of lemon, lime, and orange. Put the lid on the tin and shake! Pour the mixture back into your glass. Top with Sprite and add your garnish. You now have a delicious glass of Red Sangria.
Social distancing and quarantine don’t have to stop your fiesta! Check out these recipes for our 5 Margaritas for Cinco de Mayo! We shook things up and made a different Margarita every day going into May and leading up to our favorite celebration!
Watch the video for the how-to’s and recipes for our Margaritas for Cinco de Mayo.
Uno de Mayo
We started things off with our Grapefruit Basil Margarita on the rocks. This unique cocktail puts a sweet and tart spin on the classic Margarita!
Ingredients:
1.5 oz Silver Tequila – (We used Milagro… Feel free to use Patron or whatever YOU like!)
0.5 oz Triple Sec
0.5 oz Agave
3 oz Fresh Grapefruit Juice
1/2 Fresh Lime Juiced
5 Fresh Basil Leaves
Recipe:
Start by filling up your tin with ice. Next, pour 1.5oz of [Milagro] Silver Tequila inside. Add 0.5oz of Triple Sec. Pour 3oz of Fresh Grapefruit Juice. Add 0.5oz of Agave (to taste). Next, take your fresh basil leaves in your hand and SLAP them! It warms them up, wakes up the essential oils in the herb, and adds herbaceous aroma and flavor to your cocktail! Put the basil leaves inside the tin. Now you shake, shake, shake! Strain the mixture over ice. Garnish with a lime slice and a basil sprig.
Dos de Mayo
After day 1 of Margaritas, and day ?? of quarantine – -things started to get fuzzy. It was the perfect time to throw in something sweet! This delicious drink is sure to be a hit! Our ‘Peach Fuzz Margarita’:
Ingredients:
1.5 oz Silver Tequila
0.5 oz Peach Schnapps
1 oz Sour Mix
2 oz Orange Juice (fresh is best!)
Recipe:
Start by filling up your tin with ice. Next, pour 1.5oz of [Milagro] Silver Tequila inside. Add 0.5oz of Peach Schnapps. Add 1oz of Sour Mix and 2oz of OJ to the tin. Now you shake it up! Dump your tin into your salted [or unsalted] cocktail glass – and enjoy!
Tres de Mayo
We don’t know about you… but we feel like we’ve replaced spending time with our friends and going out to the parks with…eating. This next Margarita is for the calorie-conscious, and is a refreshing spin on the traditionally sweeter cocktail. Our ‘Cucumber Skinny Marg’…don’t let the name fool you: this drink has some strength!
Ingredients:
2 oz Silver Tequila
0.5 oz Agave Nectar (to taste)
3 Slices Cucumber, plus 1 for garnish [4 total]
Juice of 1 Fresh Lime
San Pellegrino [or Club Soda]
Recipe:
This drink relies heavily on your ability to SHAKE to release the refreshing cucumber essence. Start by filling up your tin with ice. Next, pour 2 oz of [Milagro] Silver Tequila inside. Add 0.5oz of Agave Nectar [to taste]. Add 3 of your cucumber slices and juice your lime! Now you shake it til you make it! Strain over your salted [or unsalted] ice filled glass, and top with San Pellegrino. You could use club soda instead – for an even bigger sparkle – but we prefer the smaller bubbles.
Cuatro de Mayo
Okay, okay. We get it. You’re not a fan of tequila! Well, worry not! This drink is for YOU! The jury is still out on whether or not this is officially a ‘Margarita’, since it’s missing its signature ingredient…but we’re gonna let it slide! Cheers to the Vodka-Rita!
Ingredients:
1.5 oz Vodka
0.75 oz Triple Sec
3 oz Sour Mix
Recipe:
This drink is a classic…almost. We’ve made one minor [major] change. We’re swapping the tequila for vodka. Start by filling up your tin with ice. Next, pour in 1.5 oz of Vodka. Add 0.75 oz of Triple Sec. Add 3 oz of your favorite sour mix – and shake it up! Pour shaken drink into your salted [or unsalted]…we did half salt – to get the best of both worlds – ice filled glass, and indulge.
Cinco de Mayo
We’re kicking it up a notch for the best day of May! This Margarita will leave you wanting more. It’s sweet, spicy, and our personal favorite. Our Pineapple-Jalapeno Margarita!
Ingredients:
1.75 oz Silver Tequila
0.5 oz Triple Sec
1 oz Sour Mix
2 oz Pineapple Juice
4 Jalapeno Slices
[Caution when cutting… PS you’re not supposed to be touching your face anyway]
Recipe:
Here’s our last recipe. Our sweet, spicy, and delicious finale. We’re throwing in some spice, balancing it with some sweet – and definitely having some tacos. Start by filling up your tin with ice. Next, pour 1.75 oz of [Milagro] Silver Tequila inside. Add 0.5oz of Triple Sec. Add 1oz of your favorite sour mix and 2oz of pineapple juice – and shake it up! Pour shaken drink into your salted [or unsalted], ice filled glass, and enjoy.
FYI: This one is not for slow drinking: the longer it sits with those Jalapeño slices and seeds – the SPICIER it gets. You might want to keep an extra splash of Pineapple Juice nearby, in case it gets out of hand.
Enjoy, or Disfruta, as they say in Mexico! And don’t forget to let us know which of the 5 Margaritas for Cinco de Mayo is YOUR favorite!

The warm weather is here and we have the perfect cocktails to pair with sunshine, good times, and great company (yes, virtual company included). This year gin is making a huge comeback. It is light, easy to drink, and has a distinct botanical flavor. The best part? There are SO many different ways to serve and enjoy it. You can cater to your entire friend group with these different takes on a classic spirit. For your next party (or FaceTime bonanza), think about sipping something new and different! Here are 5 different gin cocktails to suit your diverse friend group.
Gin and Tonic
Friend Profile: Your friend who loves gin. They have tried everything and always fall back to their favorite (that is also a classic). They don’t measure. They pour and go. Their measurements are probably 3/4 of the way gin, 1/4 tonic. And we are okay with that.
Recipe: *Doesn’t matter*…making it for someone else?
Here is the recipe so you can make it:
2oz Gin
4oz-5oz of tonic
Garnish with lime wedge
Cucumber Lime Breeze (ShortStaf Recipe) ?
Friend Profile:Peppy, bubbly, and wholesome. They say they are simple, but seek complex conversations, relationships, and cocktails. They always ask for a drink menu when you go out, scouring over each option- making sure the cocktail matches their mood. They rarely order the same thing twice. You can never order a drink for them because their preferences are always changing.
Recipe:
3 slices cucumber
2oz Gin
Whole lime (cut in half and juiced)
This cocktail is shaken in a tin and strained over ice
Top the mixture with sparkling water
Garnish with a cucumber slice
Want to see how it is done? Watch our video and get more detailed instructions here!
Bees Knees ?
Friend profile: They are an optimist, love parties, and go for anything yellow. The pale, lovely color of this beverage matches their dazzling personality. The bees knees cocktail is little sweet, with the perfect amount of sour (just like your friend). They probably mention how this a prohibition era cocktail. (because they enjoy fun facts, and so do we).
Recipe:
2oz gin
3/4 oz fresh lemon juice
1oz honey syrup (what is honey syrup? Equal parts honey and hot water, stirred)
This cocktail is served up (shaken to perfection and strained into a martini glass…or solo cup. We don’t judge).
Negroni ??
Friend profile: Straightforward, strong, and to the point, just like this classic Italian cocktail. It only has 3 ingredients (that are all alcohol). The Negroni is a cocktail that grows on you. In the same way your friend approaches friendship, by the end of the conversation (or cocktail), you can tell that you guys will be BFFL.
Recipe:
Equal parts (1oz)Campari, Sweet Vermouth, and Gin
Served on the rocks
Gin and Juice ?
Friend profile: Probably hasn’t had gin before, but is totally up to give it a try. Has a great attitude when it comes to trying new things. Even if they don’t like it, they say something along the lines of “it is good! but maybe it just isn’t for me”. When it comes to gin and juice, they LOVE it. The ambiguity of the mixture entices them. Let them pick the juice of their choice and they are sure to be sipping their new favorite all night.
Recipe:
1oz-2oz gin
4oz-5oz juice
(based on personal taste)
Served on the rocks
Now, you have a gin cocktail to match the taste of ALL your friends! Enjoy one (or all) (responsibly) of these cocktails for your next party, virtual hangout, or in the comfort of your home. Cheers to that.

I have been to my fair share of baby showers where I was eating unidentified baby food as a “game”. While I learned that I am definitely not a fan of mashed peas and cold mashed butternut squash was more appealing than expected, my days of guessing that food are over. Recently, I went to a baby shower that put a fun spin on bingo and got all the guests involved. In this blog we will tell you how to play baby shower bingo – so you can have fun too!
The actual game takes place while the mommy-to-be starts opening presents. Right before, the host of the party passes out blank bingo cards. To make it easier, you can have a cup of pens available at each table. Before the presents are to be opened, everyone fills out their bingo card with presents they think will be opened. You can have a free space in the middle that says “Your Present” and have them fill it in. Or you can use the more traditional approach and have the middle be automatically free, and let them fill in their own present somewhere else on the board. This game is a lot of fun and gets everyone involved in the present opening process.
Once someone gets bingo, they win! For winners, you can have first, second, and third place prizes. The best part? You can make the prizes whatever you want! At the party I went to, the prizes were gift cards. If that isn’t your style; you can make cute crafts, floral arrangements, or something as simple as a candle. To take it a step further, you can create prize goody bags. Typically these include one larger prize and a few smaller prizes like chocolates, candy, and/or bath and body products to name a few.
Boom! You just learned how to play baby shower bingo! Use this game as a fun way to include your guests during the present opening portion of the shower. Plus, everyone loves the chance to win a cute and thoughtful prize! Don’t forget to tag @ShortStafApp on Instagram if you play this fun game of bingo! As always, post on the ShortStaf App for set up, servers, bartenders, clean up, and more!
Thinking of doing a secret Santa gift exchange among family or friends this year? Great idea! It is truly one of the simplest ways to exchange gifts and have fun at the same time! How do you host a fantastic (& easy) secret Santa gift exchange? We have some tips for you below! 😉
Planning a Secret Santa
Get together with a group of your friends or family and make a list of participants. You can then write down their names on little strips of paper and have everyone pick out of a hat. Need to do things electronically because you can’t all seem to meet up? Don’t worry! There is a way to do that too!
Electronic Selection Secret Santa (iPhone)
In the group chat, the host of the secret Santa (probably you), has a list of all the names. First, assign a number to each person on the list. Send this first in the group chat so everyone knows their assigned number. Next, send each name with invisible ink. (Don’t know how? It is super easy. Type out the message you want to send, then right before you send it, hold down the send arrow until options pop up. Select invisible ink and send). If you really don’t want to know who has who, have a friend send each name for you jumbled with invisible ink!
Now, everyone has their assigned number. The invisible ink message that corresponds with that number will reveal who is to be their secret Santa giftee! (Fun and easy, right? Thanks technology).
2. Hosting the reveal party
Secret santas, it is time to come forward! Before the celebration and reveal, a decision needs to be made about what type of party would be best. There are a couple of different options:
-Cocktail and appetizer party
-Full sit down dinner
-Buffet style dinner
-Potluck
-Dessert and after dinner drinks only
Once an option is decided, you can start planning! Organizing the spaces (eating, sitting, unwrapping presents, mingling) and setting up decorations can be quite the task. This is where ShortStaf comes in! Post on the app to find any type of party help you need. ShortStaf can…
Set up the table (or tables)
Decorate
Set up food platters
Organize food stations
Bartend
Clean as you and your guests enjoy
Clean up after the party is done
Cook the food (if you don’t feel like it)
Greet guests at the door
And SO much more!
Don’t see something listed? Well, we can probably do that too. Any questions, you can always open up your ShortStaf App and message us through the Intercom messenger button on the Account tab 🙂
When it finally comes time to open up the gifts (yay!), there are two different ways you and your group can do it. First way- have the host pass out the gifts one by one, and each person opens it before the next is handed out. This gives the secret santa a chance to watch their giftee’s reaction and reveal who they are! The second way is to pass out all the gifts at once and have everyone open at the same time. Some people prefer this method because it doesn’t make any one person the center of attention. Which is perfectly fine! Come to a consensus with you guests so no one feels uncomfortable while opening up their gifts.
So, secret santa gift exchange. The recipe for success is right here-
Start planning ahead! Use the old fashioned way of pen, paper, and a hat, or use the iPhone invisible ink method if it works better for your group. Next, plan a party to exchange the awesome gifts you have selected for each other! Pick what type of event you would like to have and set your house or party space up accordingly. With the help of ShortStaf, you can enjoy the secret santa fun with your guests. No more worrying about setting up, cleaning, decorating, serving food, making drinks, or breaking everything down! Enjoy this holiday season! You created a secret santa to have fun right? So don’t let last minute details dull your holiday spirit. Time to enjoy 🙂
